Community Music from the Golden Heart of Alaska
Concert Notes
- Call
- Band members should be on stage, ready to warm up and tune
30 minutes before concert time.
- Remember the obvious
- Music, mutes as needed, water, instrument stands if you need them.
Chairs are provided for all concerts.
Stands are not provided. Bring your own, please.
- Scent
- Important: do not wear scent (cologne, perfume, after shave). Some
people, including some of our band members, have allergies to these which can even
be life threatening. Since we have little choice about where we sit on stage
relative to other players, leaving perfumes out of our mix helps players with
allergies get through the concerts.
Concert dress
- Black and blue
- Wear the band polo shirt and black from the waist down including footwear
(shoes and socks).
- Black and white
- White top, black from the waist down including footwear (shoes and socks). No
tie unless indicated by the band master. If in doubt, bring a dark tie. Be prepared to
take off the tie if asked.
- Tan and blue
- Tan slacks and the band polo shirt. Wear shoes or sandals.
- Polo shirt
- The band polo shirt and whatever else that won't get you arrested. If
outdoors, hats are fine. If you have tan shorts or slacks, that's preferred, but not
required.
- All black
- As it says, black clothes, long sleeves preferred. Black shoes and socks or
stockings. No ties.
- Formal
- A black tuxedo with white shirt and bow tie. Common variants such as a vest
instead of a cumberbund are fine as long as the theme is black and white. If you
don't have a tux, a conservative suit works as a substitute, but please use a bow
tie, not a long tie. Black shoes and socks or stockings. No white socks! Women should
wear all black. Either a long black dress with long sleeves, or black dress slacks and
a black top. Black shoes and socks or stockings. Avoid short skirts. The idea is to
pretend we are invisible, or penguins from near the other pole.
- Colors
- Wear a colorful (seasonal) top. Black from the waist down is usually
preferred. The idea is for the band to look like a flower garden, the opposite of
formal.
