from around the nation and around the world. Browsing through the list will give one an
idea of the current popularity of community bands and orchestras. He also runs a
discussion list if you want to visit with other musicians.

Community Band (or Anchorage Community Concert Band) website is being rebuilt. The

- Homer
- The Inlet Winds Community Band is active in Homer.
- Juneau
- The Juneau Community Bands . The Juneau Concert Bands is a
collection of related ensembles which provides an opportunity for adult musicians in
Juneau to play in one of several bands. See their web site (above) for more information
about the different bands, concert schedules, and information about joining. Juneau offers
a marching Band, a selective concert band, selected by audition, and focused on high level
performance, and an open band welcoming community members who wish a less intensive
experience.
- Ketchikan
- Ketchikan Community Concert Band, sponsored by McPherson Music Store provides music for
the Ketchikan community. The McPherson Music Education Center is the rehearsal home of the
Ketchikan Community Concert Band, a 50 member adult band, under the non-profit umbrella of
the Ketchikan Arts and Humanities Council. The Band meets on Mondays from 7-9 PM during
the Fall and Spring semesters, and performs two full-length concerts per year.
- Fairbanks
- Our own Fairbanks Community Band has two active components. The Concert Band performs a
wide variety of concert music, year round except in August. The Jazz Band (or Big Band)
plays both traditional big band music from the 30s and 40s, as well as more contemporary
jazz and dance tunes.
